Recycled pallet timber cut to width and stained makes an attractive screening material for this outdoor area for plants and backyard entertaining.

The project

Some say recycling is a breeze, but it is still a lot of work. This pallet and crate timber has already been reused once, and now it's going to get another new job.

The first thing to do is chop off the staples.

Then rip the pieces down to size.

Only 80 more to go.

It's best to stain the timber before installing it.

The finished project. Part of it is a shade area for plants; the other part is a seating area around the BBQ.

Hi @AndrewLee ,

Amazing you got so many battens from a few pallets. Do you mind sharing what's the shade cloth and how did you attach it?

Thanks,

Pat
