Hi I need advice on how to secure this vice to my bench - as you can see one of the holes has broken through. It has two holes each side and one at the front. It is a pivot base but I don’t mind if I lose that functionality, so long as I can get it firmly on the bench. Thanks.
Good Morning @Kapster
I wonder if you could replace the hold down bolt with one that has a thick washer (or double thick) washer that covers both sides of the hole? I cant tell from the photo if the area with the hole is flat on the vice is all.
If that dosnt work it looks like you may have enough space to drill a new hole tho I would take it easy on drilling it, let the drill do the job and not force it plus start small and work your way up to the size you want. I would also mack sure you ahve at least 10mm after the hole has been drilled to any edge.

Yes I was thinking of an extra wide and thick washer. I can’t drill a hole through the vice if that’s what you mean, but I can move the vice to another spot if needed - as that huge nail was impossible to remove.
Hi @Kapster,
Mudguard washers or square washers.

If needed drill out centre to match screw/bolt size.
Cheers
Afternoon @Kapster
"thinking of an extra wide and thick"
Same thought here - a thick piece of steel plate to 'bridge' the gap.
Oooh looks perfect thanks so much
Yes awesome idea thanks so much this vice’s days aren’t over yet:)
Hi @Kapster,
I'm glad to see the brains trust has already jumped in with some fantastic advice.
I think a mudguard washer or square washer is the way to go.
Let us know if you have any issues along the way.
