Many of our stores are now participating in a recycling program for our single-use pallets. These pallets are collected and sent off to be converted into garden mulch, which could be the reason you're having trouble finding free pallets at your local store. We do typically allow customers to take pallets until they are picked up for recycling.
I’m not aware of any pallets that we sell, but we do have multi-use hardwood pallets on site. These are not for sale or for free, as we use them for day-to-day operations. It may be worth visiting a few other stores in your area, but I’d recommend calling ahead to avoid any disappointment.

If you haven’t already spoken to the team at your local store, it’s definitely worth doing so. While we don’t typically throw pallets away, we do still receive a lot of pallets, which are usually picked up by a recycling company. Some stores near your location might still be able to let you collect a few when they become available. Because pallets are collected each week, the team should be able to advise you on a good time to come by and pick some up.

I've spoken with the team at Bunnings Narre Warren, and that sounds like your best bet. As mentioned, we do have regular collections in place, but if you reach out to the store before you head in, they'll be able to let you know if they have some on hand. If you speak with Terri in the Timber Yard/Goods Receiving, they'll be able to assist.
