How to fix Fiskars telescopic pruner chain?

So recently, my chain on my Fiskars Telescopic UPX86 pruner has come off, and I was going to the Bunnings store where I purchased the Prunner from for some advice on the repair process since the tool was purchased less than a year ago. However, the staff in the store were a bit inexperienced and had told us to a garden centre for repair. was wondering if anyone here in this forum can give us some advice on the overall repair or replacement of the runner since I do not intend to purchase another one.

Attached are the photos of the damage and parts that have come off the chain.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your Fiskars telescopic pruner.

If the product is less than a year old, you can claim a warranty by sending Fiskars an email along with pictures of the damaged parts - australia@fiskars.com. From there Fiskars will assess the damage and contact you on what the next steps will be. I recommend not having the unit repaired as Fiskars will make a determination on what should be done to your tool.

As per @EricL's thought - although, if it's under warranty, why would they not replace it?

Or...

Is the left link (your photo above) the issue?

Dremmel a slit.

Reattach the cable.

Against a steel surface and with a cold chisel - 'spread' the slit.

Just a thought.

HI eric, thanks for your reply i have reached out to Fiskars they have not replied to me. Should I take the prunner to the Bunnings store again and ask for a replacement or is there nay alternative way to resolve the issue?

If you still have your docket, I propose bringing your tool into the customer service counter and asking them that you would like an exchange for the tool. Having your docket will make it easier for them to track down your purchase and process the exchange.

Thanks for your reply. I was able to get an exchange for the tool in the store today, so I very much appreciate your advice. Just out of curiosity, are there any tricks that you would recommend to preserve the overall lifespan and quality of the Prunner?

Hi @chengpeng,

I think the main thing is to not force the tool. It is designed for branches up to 32mm thick, so don't go trying to cut things that appear thicker than this, as it will put more pressure on the tool than it was designed for.

If you have thicker branches, consider grabbing a pole saw to complement your pruner.
