Is this possible? If not, why not?
Hi @ProjectPete,
Yes, you can Special Order plants at Bunnings. If you're looking for a specific variety that isn't currently on the shelves in the nursery, the Bunnings team can often source it from one of our local suppliers for you.
The best place to start is in the nursery at your local store. Ask to speak with one of our Horticultural Experts—they have direct contact with local growers and can check if the specific plant you’re after is available seasonally.
If the plant can be sourced, the team will give you a price and can place the order through the Special Orders desk. Once your plants arrive in-store, the team will contact you to come and pick them up.
Could you please be a little more specific about what types of plants you would like to be able to order? I am happy to pass on your question and/or feedback to the Bunnings merchandise team.
Thanks,
Jason
It is posiable, they have a list at special orders of what the suppliers have. Some plants might be seasonal so out of stock with the suppliers.
Generic barcodes can be a problem as they can cover a range of sins, aquatic plants suffer from the one size fits all barcode from my experiance and suculents may be similar. Waiting time can vary, it took 12 weeks to get a simple part to fix a clothes line, I think they aim for 2 weeks though.
Being a like to see what I am getting type person doesn't help when it comes to special orders.
@Jason @Brad
Unsure of all the plants but one example is Zamia Furfuracea (cardboard palm). Now that i know it's possible, I'll get the plant names together from #wifey and see what we can find.
Hey @ProjectPete
I’ve seen quite a few plants come through special orders in my time.
A lot depends on the supplier and what they have available seasonally. I have personally purchased via special order a lemon / lime grafted tree so I know it’s possible, however the conversation started in the nursery, not at special orders.
Your local store should have at least one team member in the nursery who would regularly have dialogue with suppliers of plants that they can ask to see if specific plants are able to be sourced. Otherwise, you could also talk to special orders and ask them if they can do some digging around for you.
Normally Bunnings suppliers are more than happy to send Bunnings items that we may not ‘range’ in store via a special order.
Good luck !!

Hello @Noelsharma
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. Thank you for joining the discussion.
I'm currently making enquiries about the availability of the Magnolia Little Sarah and Magnolia Cinderella in Brisbane. I've contacted some of the special orders teams in different stores and am just waiting for a response. As soon as I have more information, I'll let you know.
Thank you for your patience.
Eric
Thanks so much Eric !! I really appreciate it
Thank you very much for your patience. The good news is that the Magnolia Cinderella/Fairy is available as a special order. You'll need to speak to your store's plant specialist to find out which one is currently available. It will have to be ordered at the special orders desk. Unfortunately, the Magnolia Little Sarah is not available in Brisbane, although it does come as a special to the store there is no fixed schedule for when it arrives.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
