Dog-friendly garden screening
This simple screening using decorative panels adds a beautiful feature and also helps keep pets out of the garden. The project This screening replaced the self-destructing trellis that was used to stop the dog from running through the dirt. I wanted something that was mostly set-and-forget and this was a chance to do a…

Remove sticky tape from wallpaper
We have wallpaper on the shop walls and the previous tenant had a love of DIY sticky tape to fix everything. So she stuck down some of the peeling wallpaper with sticky tape and I would like to fix it properly without damaging the wallpaper when I remove the tape. Any bright ideas thanks?

Upholstered headboard
As I have a new bed but have kept the old headboard for now, her indoors hits her head on it every time she sits up to use her no. 1 love (phone). While I would have liked a Tas Oak end grain pattern headboard, wadding is a safer option. I am fine with the wadding, fabric (her colour choice), fabric button kit and I have…

Open shelf end wall cabinet
Thinking of replacing the custom built monstrosity in the kitchen with something more in touch with how the house was originally built. The original (now in the shed) and the now aging poor imitation both have open ended shelves, that have gone from period containers, to 80's orange and now to Google Home Mini and junk...…

Removing a mantelpiece
Google has failed me on how this was fixed on. I want to keep the tiles for sentimental reasons and replace the top with Tas Oak to match how the furniture will be. I could take off the quarter round to see if there is a clue to how it is fixed on. Wallpaper will be going as well. Has cupped as one of it’s sins.

Came home Sunday morning to see... Trip to report it Sunday after calling the insurance company. Got the approval today to replace it and so a trip to Bunnies. Bling out your toolbox
I thought the two brands looked like they would fit together and now proof they do. I have some EVA foam for making inserts, just need to work out the best way for me to cut it. I don't have a hot knife yet but I have seen it cut with a stanley knife and people have sawn it, I have a blade for the multi-tool I may give…

Everything old is new again.
Went searching fora combination square and had an @AndrewJones moment. The Stanley #1 Odd Jobs was a tool produced by the Stanley Works from 1888 to the 1930s. It combined features of sundry tools, in a single pocketable tool. The name Odd Jobs denotes that the tool does many kinds of sundry tool roles. Its closest cousin…

Extreme workbench
Was looking at making my own lifting trolly and stumbled on this. I think that may solve the problem of the pit cut out in the shed floor and my wish to have a work bench that can move out the way.

Laundry door frame
After 60 years the rot has set in. Things I know - Standard door opening. Shorter than standard height. Double brick constrution. 140 x 50mm frame. I can find 140 x 45 in H3 Sash cover is twisting off the inside. Polar door frame is too high, narrow and too wide to fit the window and be flush inside. Lynx steel frame looks…
