Hi all
I’ve had a look at the FAQs for fixing leaking taps but didn’t see one that fits! I’m assuming that it needs a new washer but I haven’t the faintest idea of how to disassemble it. Any advice welcome!
Hi @Elle44,
Are there any identifying marks on the tap, such as a brand name, that we could use to find installation instructions or drawings for this tap?
Can you identify where on the tap the leak is coming from?
Is there a little grub screw anywhere on the tap body?
It seems likely that the solution will either be replacing an O-ring somewhere on the tap or the mixer cartridge. Working out how to gain access to them and identifying the specific location of the leak will narrow down our approach.
I'd start by drying the tap thoroughly and then conducting a thorough visual inspection. Turn on the tap and observe closely where the water starts to appear. Common leak points include the base of the spout, the join where the spout meets the body, and the handle area. If the leak occurs when the tap is off, it may suggest a faulty cartridge or valve inside the mixer. Conversely, if the leak is only present when the tap is running, it could indicate worn O-rings or seals.
If you can do some investigation and answer the questions above, I will happily assist further.
Jacob
This appears to be the tap?

But I haven't seen installation instructions you can download - yet.
Hi @JacobZ and @Noyade . Thanks for replies. I think you’re right about the pic — looks like mine and you’re also right that I cant find the manual either! I’ll do the full check, but I cant see any names on it and the leak seems to be coming from the connection between the tap handle and the body. The blurb you included suggests ‘easy assembly’ so presumably easy disassembly too. There doesn’t seem to be a screw anywhere but there are two button like things, one under the tap handle and one on the side. Do you think they come out? Thanks again! Elle
Hi @Elle44,
That sounds like there's a good chance it's coming from the mixer cartridge.
That button like thing is likely a cover that conceals a grub screw. Try grabbing a flat tool like a screwdriver or butter knife and popping the button off. Under this, you should see a grub screw which can be removed with an allen key. Once the grub screw has been removed, you should be able to remove the tap handle at which point you should see a mixer cartridge which can be removed and replaced with one of a suitable diameter.
I'd suggest grabbing a FIX-A-TAP 40mm Flat Mixer Tap Cartridge Repair Kit or a FIX-A-TAP 35mm Flat Mixer Tap Cartridge Repair Kit depending on the size of your mixer cartridge as it also contains some replacement o rings that can help seal everything up tight.
If you have any trouble removing or replacing the cartridge, please come back to us so we can assist further.
