How to fix gap between window and stone benchtop?

 Hi there, any thoughts on how to fill the gap between the window and the new stone benchtop? I was thinking rod filler and silicone on top. The gap seems too wide for that. Thanks

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

How wide is the gap at its largest point?

Going off your photos, the gap isn't small, but it doesn't appear too wide for your described method of using filler rod followed by white silicone. 

If you'd like to go ahead with this, check out How To Silicone a Gap for some guidance on applying silicone sealer to cover gaps.

Aesthetically, it wouldn't look as good as if the gap was smaller before covering it with silicone, but functionally it would work much the same with only a small amount of effort and expense. 

Alternatively, you could cover the gap below the window with something like this Metal Mate 20 x 12 x 1.4mm 3m White Aluminium Unequal Angle and then either replace the timber trim on the right and left of the window, or fill the gap with Builder's Bog, then sand, paint and seal the bottom edge with silicone.

Just a coffee thought @DIY_110 

The gap does look big to my eyes.

I was thinking of stiff cardboard and with a pair scissors keep cutting and nibbling till it slips in the gap with the correct profile.

Transfer this to a block of wood.

Cut to the correct thickness.

And with a chisel, coping saw, jigsaw, band-saw, multipurpose tool or whatever you have, cut the profile.

Glue in position. Maybe a little gap filler required. Paint.

Thats a nice new benchtop, You could go for a small piece of trimber trim and then silcone it in. Tho I think a nicer more complete job would be to remove th actual timber trim and put in new trim, It dosnt have to be an exact match as you will be replacing the three pieces. The trim is iusually tacking in with some bullet head nails and as you have the base that you could lever hopefully it will come away easily. The new trim can match (if its available) or something close should be available. I wouldnt go for something different compare dto the other windows in your house for matching purposes.
