Re: How to match grout colour?

Hello @barry6

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about your floor grout.

In order to bring a sample of your grout to the store for comparison, I suggest using a sharp nail and scratching the surface of the grout. Once you have a small amount of grout in powder form, I recommend using some clear sticky tape and pushing it over the top of the powdered grout. Fold the tape underneath to trap the powdered grout in the middle.

The grout will stick to the surface of the sticky tape, and you can use this as reference when looking at the grout colour chart at the store. Unfortunately, the colour representation on a computer screen is not accurate so it's best to compare your sample at the store.

In regards to grout removal, I suggest having a quick look at this discussion - How to repair floor tile grouting? by @lukec. You can remove the old grout using mechanical means. However, extreme care must be taken to avoid chipping or damaging the tiles if you don't have spares.

Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a dust mask when working on the tile grout.

Here are some handy step-by-step guides:

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
