Re: How to tighten a tap mixer?

Hello @junjcueto

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your tap mixer fitting.

That is indeed a very curious type of fitting and would have have to say that this is a first for me. Perhaps the black rubber O ring is blocking the view to the post nut. Usually when there is this type of post a Haron Mixer Tap Spanner Kit is used to adjust the nut on the post. But in this instance, it can't be seen. I suggest running your hand over the post to see if you can feel the body of a nut on the post itself. If you do, then you can use the spanner kit to tighten it up.

Let me call on our experienced members @Nailbag, @Dave-1, @AlanM52 and @Noyade to see if they have seen anything like it before.

Re: How to tighten a tap mixer?

Good Evening @junjcueto

😕 I am afraid I havnt seen anything like this before. If its brand new, would it be possible to see the whole of the mixer unit taken out of the sink? Or do you still have the model listed from the packaging?

Re: How to tighten a tap mixer?

Hi Dave-1,

This tap mixer was installed more than 2 years ago, actually I don't have any idea how to take this one out, unlike the other ones. I'll try if I  can find the receipt.

@EricL , I'm trying to feel it if there's sort of a nut on the assembly but the thing in the middle is just round.

Thanks @Dave-1 @EricL

Hello @junjcueto

I suggest tyring to remove the rubber O ring at the bottom and use the tap spanner to tighten the nut.

Hi,  Is it the little black plastic attached to the round metal in the middle.

Hi @junjcueto

I have never seen this type of fastening system before. They typically have a brass threaded bolt and nut. I can't see what needs tightening. Most likely needs to en extended special socket.

Might be one for a plumber.

Hello @junjcueto

Yes, that black O ring or plastic that is hiding the nut.

Hi,

I will try to take that one next time and see if there's nut there.

Thanks
