How do I restore these cane chairs?

I have 2 of these antique cane chairs that I’ve had for quite a while with the intention of repairing. Are they beyond my novice diy repair ability? The binding needs attention in may areas and sine splitting of the cane at the bottom of the legs. Thanks for your opinion and advice.

General speaking, the steps are to sand the chair down as much as possible back to timber. Fill in any damage and clean the surface of sanding dust before painting. For the split pieces it will be necessary to glue and clamp these sections and perhaps screw them back together. The binding will need to be wrapped back up tightly and stapled at the bottom with a staple gun hidden from direct view. The chairs appear to be in good condition, and it looks like it is still possible to restore them.
