I suggest having a look at this discussion - How to build a mirror frame? by @Rahi. You'll find great suggestions on how you can make your own timber mirror frame in this discussion. The general method is to use timber moulding to surround the mirror and allowing it to sit inside that frame while using smaller timber pieces to lock it in.
