Is there any chance you could draw us a sketch to help illustrate what you intend to build? That would allow our members to better understand the project. Let me know if you need a hand uploading images.

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the positioning of the platform, it's function and the relation between that and the measurements you've provided. Again, I'm not sure how the modular storage comes into play on a platform that is only 9cm tall. Will they sit on top of it? Were you planning on building these cubes too, or using pre-fabricated cube storage?

the modular part of the platform would be the two separate pieces of the cube storage, I think I worded it wrong, I might the piece are detachable for easy removal if need be I hope these drawings are alright many thanks ☺️

A typical king single is generally 107cm wide by 203cm long. Can you please confirm the size of your king single just to make sure the size is correct. Do you wish the cubicle step to go the entire length of the bed? I'm just curious about sizes you've given as it appears that it will not be covering the entire length of the bed. Please give me some time to draw up a sample image of your project and you can correct the measurements as we move forward. As soon as I finish the sketch, I'll post it here.

I'm still having a great deal of difficulty in trying to understand the relationship between your measurements and the sketch you've drawn.

Height: 9 cm

Where, for instance, would the 9cm/90mm of height be?

In answer to your questions, you could use either plywood or MDF, but MDF is great as it has no splinters. The tools you have currently would be enough to construct the platform base. To join the wood pieces I would screw up through the Cube storage and into the bottom of the timber panel, just ensure you use screws of the correct length so they don't penetrate the top of the panel. You can remove these screws if you wish to move or rearrange the system. Either painting, staining or coating the timber with varnish would be perfect ways to finish and seal it.

Hi @robpas

I originally thought you might have a high ensemble bed and need assistance getting in and out.

But the dimensions don't seem to pan out.

To put scale to the project - that plastic container seen below is 90 mm high and 130 mm wide. I was thinking shoe storage, but you'd be lucky to get a pair of socks in there?

When you consider the wood thickness, that 'storage' shrinks even further - maybe 60 mm height.

I'm thinking build bigger and use dressed pine.
