How to fix gas heater bayonet plug not fitting?

We recently moved house and brought our gas heater which has this fitting

And this is the floor gas outlet

and me trying to fit them together

but I can't get it past that point, though I might not be doing it the right way. So I'm wondering if I need a plumber to replace the floor outlet... or do I need to know the proper technique?

G'day @jonathan_d

The fixed fitting is spring loaded.

You need to align the notched sections of the male end, push hard and twist clockwise.

Failing that we need to look further.

Cheers

Re: Gas bayonet plug not seeming to fit

Hi @jonathan_d,

It's great to see that @Noyade is already on the case. As mentioned, the front section compresses, so push firmly into the outlet to compress it. Ensure the two cutout notches on the fitting are aligned with the two protruding tabs within the outlet when doing so.

Please let us know how you go.
