How to replace missing table brackets?
I recently bought a table that was missing the metal brackets needed to connect the legs to the tabletop! The original parts were custom L-shaped brackets (photo of the manual attached), and I’m now looking to DIY a solution.
-
Does Bunnings offer a service to cut and drill metal to size?
-
Any recommendations to what kind of L brackets? it's a fairly heavy wooden table 2.5m Length.
-
I'd need 4 brackets, each with holes drilled in specific spots to match existing bolt locations.
Keen to get it assembled properly and safely — open to any tips or workarounds as well. Thanks in advance!

Re: DIY: Replacing Missing Table Brackets
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @mkcltrd. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about replacing table leg brackets.
Unfortunately, Bunnings doesn't offer a service to cut metal to size or drill holes. However, for a replacement, you could look at using 50x50x5mm mild steel angle, which is a sturdy option and may serve as a suitable replacement for the original custom brackets. You’d need to cut the angle to the appropriate length and drill holes to match the existing bolt locations on your table. If you're not equipped to do this yourself, you might consider enlisting the help of a local handyperson, or using platforms like Airtasker or HiPages to find someone who can custom-make the brackets for you.
Another option might be to use a couple of these Dunnings 75 x 50 x 5 x 290mm M12 Structural Angle Brackets on each side and not use the existing holes, but create new ones to suit this bracket.
It's great that you're aiming to get the table assembled properly and safely—just make sure whatever solution you go with is strong enough to support the weight and size of the table.

Re: DIY: Replacing Missing Table Brackets
G'day @mkcltrd
I too would be looking at what @MitchellMc suggested. Or possibly using a length of angle iron cut to the length required and drilled to suit.
But it looks to me you have just un-packaged this? Is it worth putting it back in the box - and returning it and getting it replaced? Open the package in the store and making sure the brackets are there before returning home.
Cheers.

Re: DIY: Replacing Missing Table Brackets
Thanks @MitchellMc and @Noyade for your thoughts and advice on this.
I'll look to reach out to my local handman for this as suggested.
