Hi, I am trying to secure a wardrobe to a wall but there is a gap of 5-6 cm between the wardrobe and the wall. Do you have any idea in securing it to the wall.
Hi @victor2605,
Are you just trying to secure it to the wall to stop it toppling forward as per the safety guidelines, or to you wish to close the gap for aesthetical purposes?
If you can show us the back lower section, depending on the construction, you can sometimes cut the shape of the skirting out of the bottom edge of the cabinet, allowing it to push further back against the wall. You'll then be able to screw through the back of the cabinet or use small angle brackets at the top to fix it to the wall.
If you are unable to cut out the lower section to suit the skirting, the gap would need to be covered by a trim piece. To fix a cabinet to a wall that is spaced out from it, you should first install a timber strip on the wall the width of the gap. You can then attach them as above.
I've added some rendering I created for you below to illustrate.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

If the wardrobe is to be a permanent fixture, @victor2605 - you could also, with a multi-tool, cut the skirting, remove, then slide your cupboard up to the wall flush and anchor up top with brackets. But you also may need to add a small amount of packing under the front of the wardrobe - for that flush wall look. Hard to tell.
Just a thought.
Cheers.
Thanks @Noyade. That's a much simpler approach than removing the profile from the cupboard. Nice one!
