Here's a simple task I have to do, but looking for easiest as Ive 17,364 other jobs to do around this house.
My gate has dropped slightly, works perfectly but this means with this type of latch, the bottom catch isn't clicking into place. Would it be easier to unscrew painted in hinges and somehow reseat them level, OR just buy a normal slide bolt and add that?
It has to be secure as I rescue greyhounds and when they run off...they run off VERY fast!
Hi @ezzie
Would a 100mm T-bracket get you outta trouble?

Otherwise I'm more than happy to make one for you (no cost) since it's the season where it's better to give.

A truly noble cause! As a concerned citizen, I thank you.
Cheers!
Thats very kind of you Noyade - I'm not sure a mending t-plate would work as its thr hinges that have drooped a tad, so it has to be hinged. But thanks for the kind seasonal gesture.
Apologies - I thought a longer arm was needed.
Would moving the two latch screw positions higher help?
Hi @ezzie,
Sprocket AKA Sir is giving you a high-five paw and the rescue thing is a fading memory.
I would just drop the latch down.
I often get involved with keeping animals safe so I will suggest a couple of things - a gate return spring.
and a gate alarm.
Cheers
A big nose boop to Sir Sprocket from myself and foster boi Maxie. Dropping the latch is a good idea, as long as I can get those painted over screws out.
Hi @ezzie,
With that look she will melt someone's heart 😊
Hopefully you have a cordless drill or can borrow one.
They are Hex head timber screws so you will also likely need.
Drill bit set - to drill pilot holes for the screws.
Cheers
Hello @ezzie
I can't add more to the excellent suggestions made by @Noyade and @AlanM52. I recommend filling the old screw holes with Parfix 500g Ready To Use Multipurpose Filler - 500g to prevent water from settling inside.
