How to install a low-level deck over a tiled alfresco?

hi, I have a tiled Alfresco area which i would like to put a decking over,problem is from the top of the tiles to the top of the bricks under a sliding door is only 90mm, would it be possible to use 70x35 joists which would be sitting on the tiles and use 19mm boards or is this a bad idea?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's a pleasure to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about building your low-level deck.

Before you begin, would it be possible for you to post a photo of the area where you are planning to build the deck? This will give our members an opportunity to assess the area. We can then make recommendations on how to proceed.

If you use 70x45 plus standard 19mm Merbau decking, you will have a gap of 1mm. It is not an ideal gap as there is not enough space for air to pass through and condensation will get trapped under the wood thereby shortening its lifespan. In an ideal situation, a larger gap would be needed and the timber framing would be held in place by angle brackets along the length of the timber frame.
