Apologies for the spam

Hi all,

A number of our Bunnings Workshop online community members received a spam message from fake accounts on Saturday morning. Once this was brought to our attention we took immediate steps to ban the spam accounts.

We sincerely apologise to our community members that were affected and we are working to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Hi Everyone,

Not sure where to ask this/who to contact so here goes. I received an email today claiming it was from Bunnings Workshop. It said I had a 'Private message', which asked if I wanted to win an iphone 12. It looks authentic, but I just thought I'd check here before clicking on any links. Is this authentic???

To read a private message, click on your profile name on the top right hand corner of the page, and select private message from the drop down menu.

Might be a good idea to add delete messages feature to the inbox or report message/user. Please pass on to IT team

Thanks for your feedback @zool3. I will ask the team to take a look at how the inbox could be improved. You can delete the message after you open it - the delete button is next to the reply button. Please note there is no problem with viewing the message, but do not click on the link contained in the message.

Once you open the message, by clicking on the message subject line, you'll be presented with options in the bottom right-hand corner. It sounds like you've gone into your private messages but haven't opened the actual message to see the options.

Just wanted to update you all that we've made a number of significant changes to ensure that this incident does not happen again. We're also working on more.

You'll notice that the Private Messenging capability on the site has a new look and feel, and we've made changes behind the scenes to ensure only trusted users can send messages to you. You might also like to turn off the private messenging capability if you wish, or change your email notification settings. You can do so in the My Settings section.

Please don't hesitate to reach out anytime if you have any questions or concerns.
