Whole home low budget slow refresh

Home Sweet Home!Home Sweet Home!So I'm about to take on a little cottage in the middle of nowhere to be near family, and I'm beside myself with excitement about all the stuff we can do to freshen her up. I've never done any reno stuff before, but a lick of paint is always a great place to start. Bunnings, here I come!

P.S. I'm still trying to work out how to add an image to this post!

Hello @BoeingFan

Thank you very much for the update, your home looks great and looks totally different from the one that I saw at the start way back in 2022. Would love to see the improvements you've made inside!

Good Morning @BoeingFan

 Oh yeah! Your house looks so much better, tidier and somehow more settled. Would love to see some pics (or projects) of the things you have done in the house. You mention you removed allthe West facing windows, did you replace them or did you remove them for heat/cold purposes?

Hi @BoeingFan,

Thank you for updating us on your progress.

You've done a magnificent job with your little cottage home. I am sure you are extremely proud of the progress you have made.

It looks like a fantastic place to live.

G'day Dave @Dave-1

Thanks mate, I appreciate that. Inside is an ongoing process at this point, with the bathroom the only room that is finished. I'll see what I can find to post.

The western wall originally had a window in each of 2 rooms (all the rooms are all 5x3m) and I took the windows out for heat purposes. It's also where I had the aircon installed. I've also thrown some bricks under between the stumps to try to stop sun hitting underneath the house and creating extra heat in summer.

I hope you're well buddy.

Jason

@Dave-1 here's the bathroom before and 'initially completed' photo's. I say initially completed only because there were towel rails etc. and a floor to ceiling shower caddy, laundry hamper etc. added afterwards.

Good Morning @BoeingFan

Oh SNAP! That is briiliant! Love the way you have the screen straight across the room and the mirror with the timber edge  No way can you compare what was to what is! Really nice work and something that would be so nice to have in your place

Re: Whole home low budget slow refresh

Morning again @BoeingFan

I like your thinking with the heat, Definently one way to mitigate it. Was just looking at your pics and yeah you have lost minimal window space really and added a huge amount of insulation

Re: Whole home low budget slow refresh

Howdy @Dave-1

Yes it has made a big difference for that wall. At least now the bedroom is cooler than the main road 😄

In that pic comparing the western wall above, the house looks like it's all one tone of blue, but it's only because the sun was going into the camera. I've used Dulux Ironstone around the baseboard and the gutters, and the walls are Dulux Tinker. Photo below, taken before I replaced the front door.
