A complete bedroom makeover including custom bedhead, bedside tables, artwork and furnishings.

The project
Absolutely everything was D.I.Y. in this bedroom to make it super affordable. My total spend was $759, saving myself around $5,500 by not buying everything off the shelf.
My projects included:
- Hanging Glasscloth Wallpaper
- Bedhead
- Dowel feature bedside tables
- Lamp
- Duvet cover
- Feather cushions
- Reupholstered armchair
- Bedroom art
- Installing curtains
- Spray painting vents
- Installing a pendant light with no wiring.
This is the bedroom before I started.

I took these secondhand bedside tables...

...and upcycled them with Taubmans Endure paint and 10mm half round dowels.

The lamps were made from Verve Design White Kimono Paperweave Drum Lamp Shade at $27.50 each, the two Kmart plant pots were $7 each, the Kmart mini lamp $10, and I used Squirts Spray Paint and Prime. The total cost per lamp was $56.50.
I used a 6mm MDF panel for the bedhead backer board and covered it with an old foam mattress, some wadding and then fabric.

I bought this secondhand armchair for $20.

Here's the transformed chair with $60 worth of Teddy fabric. It's very similar to Boucle fabric but without the high price tag.

My handmade duvet cover, using curtain fabric for $50.

My handmade linen feather filled cushions, $25 for four cushions.

I used the paint to create my own wall art and framed it using a $22 Kmart frame. I primed the MDF backer using Zinsser B-I-N and painted using some old wall paints and some acrylics.

I also made this detailed video of the bedroom makeover featuring all my work.
