Hi I would like any advice regarding painting over the timber panels. I don't want to paint the window and door frames but wonder if this is going to look silly or should I paint all the timber
panelling skirting frames and architraves in the color British paints Mossy Road.
Hello @Levitex
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about painting your wall.
Paint colour and paint colour combination is a very personal choice. What may look unusual to me might look perfectly alright with you.
However, I can offer an opinion in regards to your painting plan. Painting just the panels and leaving the window and door frame unpainted will create contrast and make the frames pop-out and become noticeable. You will now have three colours present, your wall colour, your window and door frame colour and the colour of the timber panels.
However, painting the timber frames will give it a unified look and the bright colour of the wall will now compliment the colour you've chosen. This has the effect of making the space look bigger. Given a choice, I would recommend painting the window and door frame in order to produce a more unified look.

Hi @Levitex
I think it's a great idea to paint the timber panelling. It will really lift the brightness of the room and modernise the look. The colour chosen loos to compliment the window frame colour. And it's a wise choice not to repaint the window. From first hand experience, it's considerable work in preparation and respraying with multiple cans of expensive spray paint.
For the timber panelling, start with a light sand. Then prime coat it so that the dark colour doesn't bleed through. Then apply 2-3 coats of your chosen colour.

Good Evening @Levitex
I would also suggest to paint the window sill/frame and doors/skirts. Sticking with your colour scheme how about a lighter shade of green for the windows/skirts and dooor frames? A green with more white in it? I actually stuck a piece of A4 paper onto the wall of my bathroom to help me decide on what type of white I liked most. You could paint some cardboard pieces and stick them onto the panels and edges to see if the lighter paint still appeals to you.
I like having seperation lines for my paints (usually I do skirts a tiny different shade to the wall and the ceiling, is also a different shade.)
With the paneling, I have painted over that same type before and I found that it bleeds through the paint to a resonable degree so I would expect a couple of undercoats first. I would also lightly sand the paneling just to help the paint take.
