I am needing to replace an exterior doors lock / handle. The door has an existing hole that is 200mmx60mm, so I am needing something suitable to fit into this. Looking for recommendations! Thanks
Hello @gsom
Thank you for sharing your question about choosing a lock for your exterior door. There are door locking sets that will cover the entire cut out of the door. An example is the https://www.bunnings.com.au/lemaar-chrome-plate-entry-pro-3-0-entry-lock_p0336109 . However, to really expand your choice, I suggest repairing the door and filling the door cut along with the latch hole with a piece of off cut timber. The timber filler piece can be glued and screwed into the cut out. You can then choose a new lock and create a new custom mounting hole specific to that door lock. I think it is a much easier option rather than trying to match up the existing door cut out.
Once the door cut out has been patched you can pretty much choose any entrance door lock you would like to put in. If you would like a smart lock, I suggest having a look at the https://www.bunnings.com.au/yale-silver-smart-mortice-lock_p0521632 . There is also the https://www.bunnings.com.au/lockly-satin-nickle-lux-compact-mortice-smart-lock_p0098023 which has excellent 5stars review from customers who have purchased this umbrella.
Please remember to check out the stores https://www.bunnings.com.au/services/in-home/door-lock-installation service, especially if you are looking for a professional to install your new door lock.

Good morning @gsom
It depends on what lock you are replacing it with, if its going to be a smaller lock then Id follow @EricL's suggestion and fill and move the handle. (best way to keep the strength of the door) If you want to replace lock for hole size I would go in and have a look at the door locks physically. And id spend a little more than the minimum as its something you will see all the time :)
