How to build a hideaway for a rainwater tank?

Hi,

I have a slim rainwater tank that I would like to hide, as it’s a bit of an eyesore. What would you recommend to conceal it so it blends better into the backyard?

Is there anything I should be aware of if I were to build a fence or screen around it?Thanks

Hi @acc

the easiest way to attach the screen, once you have made it, will be place it against the wall, mark where the inside of the end uprights are on the wall.

Put the screen aside while you then attach a timber upright to the wall inside each of the marks, by using masonry plugs and screws.

You can then use long screws to screw the ends of the frame into those uprights (make sure you miss where the masonry anchors are) such that they can be easily unscrewed again if need be, without disturbing the uprights attached to the wall. (Masonry anchor points are best left undisturbed.)

It is possible to build the cover without anchoring it to the ground; however, I would suggest anchoring both sides well to the wall to prevent it from falling. The ease for removal is just a suggestion and if you wish to anchor it to the ground that is also possible. To protect the footing, I suggest sitting it on a Brighton Masonry 200 x 100 x 50mm Charcoal Mypave 215 Paver.

One way to secure it to the wall is to use
