How to fix kick down doorstop?

Question

Outdoor stop on a heavy steel door. Basically it has 'given up on staying up' and just flops back to the concrete.

It's friction based on a thin steel plate at the back with a 'dimple' on the arm. Pushing the plate back (you can just see my slotted screwdriver mark) works - but then reverts back to the problematic state.

Repair/fixing thoughts? I have some elaborate ideas of my own.

I spent too much time on this. There was not a lotta room to play with and no space to insert anything. So in the end I removed the pin and the 'flexible' backing which is nothing more than a paper thin (0.5mm) strip of stainless steel that no longer rebounds. I tried turning it around but with only short-life success.

Then I tried 1mm steel - better but not perfect. Then I decided to place a 2mm strip of steel to the back cavity to reduce the expansion space for the inner strip.

Success.

But then when tightening the new bolt and nut in place, I realised I can create enough friction in the mount doing this to keep the stop elevated.

Good Afternoon @Noyade

How about cutting out a segment of thick rubber and dropping it into the gap at the back of the rounded connection point? Something thick enough to cause friction as well as solid enough not to wear out fast. (Im thinking conveyor belt solidness, Or sole of an old shoe) It may need gluing to stay in place and that flat plate may work for the rubber to be attached? I am thinking of about 1mm in thickness btw.
