How to ensure renovated bathroom has correct fall to drain?

Question

Hello, i am planning to renovate my very original bathroom. I have hired waterproofer who is tiler as well and plumber too for my project. I live in a strata unit on the 1ST FLOOR and my building was built in 1973.

my current bathroom has bathtub which i am wanting to get rid off and go with walk in shower. My concern is regarding the water pooling . My plumber and tiler are playing football game with me when i went to ask them to make sure that they get the bathroom shower slope correct. They both are in business for over 20 years, they know what they are doing , but still here i am. So i have uploaded pictures of my bath tub where the shower drain is . I have also uploaded second picture where the main drain is in the center of the bathroom . I can see venity waste is also going in there.

I am wanting to put the duel rain hand held shower .

so at the moment , bathtub is working as slope but when the bath tub is gone the shower slope has to be correct. My question is how to achieve this ? One plumber tell me he cant say at the moment as the bath tub needs to come out first and he would need to see whats underneath which sounds correct to me. But i need to get the scope of work approved by strata first.

Say if  the drainage from bath tub to main center drainage pipe is in concrete slab and its not possible to cut the slab , my only option is to with screeding the shower area .

is my understanding correct ?

During the rough in phase, what can plumber do to so that water does not pool ? May be there would already be some screeding there on which bath tub is sitting .

Is there possibility of linear drain going in there ?

i am lost . I have sacrified my holidays to save up for my bathroom  renovation.

And the last thing i want is for water not to drain and just stay on the surface when i use shower. My bathroom measures 2.13*2.01. My bath measures 1470 mm lenghts wide 760 mm. One additional thing to note is that my bathroom floor is raised about 10 mm from my hallway.

Hi @Smita108,

Again, it is a tough situation because you are looking for certainty, but the reality is, there is nothing certain until the bath gets removed and they can see what they are working with.

To be honest, it sounds like you would be better off speaking with a builder specialising in bathroom renovations than trying to project manage things yourself. Juggling trades is one of the really difficult parts of renovating, and bathrooms are a place where it is most prevalent because you need so many different trades for a small space and the jobs have to be done in a really specific order.

The benefit of a builder is they will project manage things for you. They will quote on an overall scope, so you have an agreed upon price, then subcontract out the work under their own oversight. Usually, a builder will have a trade qualification, or even multiple trade qualifications, as well as a network of people they regularly work with. They will also know what job needs to be done at what point, and if they can't do it themself, they will have someone who can.

You'd likely end up paying a bit more, but the stress of managing trades yourself wouldn't be there and you would be dealing with a single person or business, rather than trying to manage multiple people, who have different schedules, requirements and expectations.

The waterproofing has to be done first, so i would be thinking that the plumber who is doing the waterproofing would have to be happy with whatever falls the floor has to sign off on waterproofing. This also would include the heights that are needed for the tiles (and any screed under them) You could ask for a written description of the work and that should show you what you have specified that you want. As its a bathroom and likely to be several thousand dollars there should be a contract of specified works that is between you and the builder/plumber/tiler

Thank you Jacob and Dave, i first ask this question about the slope to my tiler/waterproofer (same guy) he said its not my responsibility yoh need to talk to your plumber. I called plumber and he said i am not doing tiling so its the otber guys responsibility. I dont mind with them to be honest and sayi

ing look we wont know until the bathtub comes out . Hobless shower would be my preference , but please continue to help me towards this as much as you can. I think i shall have some patience and wait until that bathtub of 30 years come out and screams like show me the money !!!!
