The project:
This laundry refresh project started with DIY demo.
From there I learnt how to assemble and install Kaboodle Cabinets, plaster, tile and install floating shelves.
I took my time with this project and after a couple of months I had a completely new, beautiful and a lot more functional tiny laundry.

- Step 1:
A good project always starts with the before! I'm working with a 1200mm space with the laundry doubling as a thoroughfare through to the toilet.
I jumped on the Kaboodle online planner from the Bunnings website and played around with a few different layouts. I ended up choosing the most straightforward layout to refresh the existing space with a $1500 budget.
- Step 2:
Next is of course the demo. What started off as fun quickly became a huge physical challenge and I realised that even demolition requires some skill.
I jumped on the Bunnings website and watched their videos on how to remove the laundry tub.
The beige dated tiles didn't stand a chance against a builder's daughter with a good attitude, a hammer and a dream for a beautiful laundry.
- Step 3:
From there it's time for the rebuild. I assembled the base cabinet, cut out a hole for the pipes and learnt how to plaster.
Bunnings cut the Kaboodle benchtop perfectly to size and I roped in a plumber friend who helped out to fit the sink and connect the taps.
I wanted a pop of colour in this space and chose to paint the cabinet doors a gorgeous deep red.
- Step 4:
Now to make her beautiful. Learning to tile was so satisfying. Grouting felt just like icing a cake! The floating shelf fits the space perfectly and adds an opportunity for styling in a small space. I've left a spare spot on the left in case I'd like to add a dryer down the track.
Whilst the majority is a perfect beautiful laundry (also doubling as a semi powder room) down the track I will sort out the flooring when I eventually learn how to install floating floors throughout my entire home.
