The project

Hello and well done to you. I’m just about to do a panel wall after buying g today. im on a mission to do a guest bedroom.

I was wondering have you had to cut the panels and if ‘yes’, what is your best advice for the best outcome? Thank you in advance

Love these walls - well done. I have been trying to find the VJ wall panels at 3 of our local Bunnings stores yesterday but all are out of stock and don't when they will be back in supply. I'm in Randwick NSW - what stores did you get product from?

Thank you for sharing your VJ panelling project. My number one tip for a perfect fit is to check your measurements multiple times. Nothing is more frustrating than cutting the panel too short or at the wrong angle. The VJ panels are very forgiving and the edges can be lightly sanded to give you that perfect finish. Keep the panels lying down to avoid bowing, make sure to keep them in a safe place where no one will accidentally walk on them.

It sounds like a fantastic room upgrade, any photo updates you can provide while installing it would be very much appreciated.

It's great to hear that this project has inspired you to give it a go. Let me tag @mazzahhh to make them aware of your question. I've been in contact with our provider and they are currently addressing this issue. It may be a few weeks before the stock gets back to normal levels in the stores in your area. You can do a stock check by going to the Bunnings website and indicating the address of your local store. You can also give your local store a call after a few weeks to see if the VJ panels have come back in stock.

Hi @EricL we want to do something like this, without having to remove our skirting boards. However, the width of the top of the skirting board looks like it’s smaller than the width of the vj panels which makes me think it will look odd. Any creative solutions for that? Also, we don’t have the tools to cut the panels. Can the length be cut at Bunnings? And can we hire the tool to cut the holes for the plugs? Tx!

Most of our VJ panels are 9mm thick. How thick is your skirting board? If your skirting board is thinner, you could use some beading to cover the transition area. However, it will look a little odd if the skirting is thinner than the board. You might like to simply stick another thin skirting board over the current one to bring it out further.

For anything but plain sheeting panels, it's best to check with a helpful team member at your local store to ensure they can cut these VJ panels for you.

Your best bet is to pick up an inexpensive jigsaw for cutting any holes in the panels. I haven't seen anything for hire that would allow you to cut these holes. If you set up a guide, you could also use the jigsaw to cut the sheeting to length.

Hi I’m wanting to do some Vj panelling on a feature wall. I had a builder come around and he said would be difficult to do because of the edge (see image) as not wanting to wrap around

. I’ve seen heaps of images of similar walls done I’m assuming you can put some sort of moulding to finish off. Can I get some advise please

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Olliefal. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing VJ panelling.

There are plenty of options for finishing the board. Typically, you would use an external corner moulding that neatly transitions to the board on the wrapped-around wall. Even though you are not wrapping the board, you can still use the moulding. Alternatively, you could cut the sheet 9mm short of the corner and use a 9mm Quad Moulding to round the end of the sheet into the corner. You can even finish the panel flush with the corner, glue/nail the edge, putty any gaps, sand and paint.

@ProjectPete uses 1.5mm Aluminium Angle, to finish a corner like this in his project Recessed TV feature wall with easyVJ panels.

It really depends on what you'd like the corner to look like.
