I like seeing photos of people's handiwork in the Aussie mancaves Facebook page. Here's a good one I saw recently of an old shed turned into a backyard pub.
I wish this was mine...
Here's my dream man cave - this guy in the states set up his own retro video game arcade in a barn. It has over 50 machines.
Edit: Looks like Gizmodo has killed the link to the story. All I could find was the opening preamble...
Peter Hirschberg has just finished his stunning retro-gaming heaven, a Valhalla for the best arcade video games ever. His Luna City Arcade has 57 fully-restored arcade classics, which span from Asteroids to Zaxxon, plus a whole load of pinballs. Amazingly enough, he does all this on his own dime, for the love of it. This personal museum is open now to the public by invitation only, and the best thing: entrance and quarters are completely free for his guests.
Good topic!
I've heard that @NickM has a shared inner-city workshop. Care to share some photos that might inspire other members of the community, Nick?
Jason
I'm with @Kermit. That looks like one of my childhood dreams came to life. I can't see any pinball machines though, which is a bit disappointing.
Although it's not really a mancave, have you seen this garage in Toorak?
I won't give it away but the way you access this garage is pretty creative.
He has pinballs too @Jackson.
Here's a couple more pix. A Flash Gordon pinball would be pretty rad.
@Kermit, the man is living the dream!
Saw this one on the weekend - an epic garage from a house for sale in Kalista.
There was an awesome bar and carport conversion at this house in Heidleberg Heights, but I think the realestate agent thought it was tacky and didn't include it on the images, you can just see it poking out of one of the images:
From renovation expert Mike Holmes. Looks fantastic!
This amused me...
Wow, can anyone build this for me? It would be amazing for the mancave.
Check out the man cave at this place!
Would love something like this in the mancave!
Anyone see the story on mancaves on The Project last night?http://tenplay.com.au/channel-ten/the-project/extra/season-8/man-caves
It was based on a new book about blokes and their sheds - http://mensshedphotography.com.au/ There are some top photos of some amazing caves.
@Goldmember, thanks for those links, I did watch a few episodes of Manspace TV once I woke up to it being on, & thoroughly enjoyed them.
From another perspective, I'm with Jeff Kennett in believing that Govt funding of the Find a Shed program is vitally important, in being a mental support system for blokes suffering loss, or struggling with life. Nothing works better than having a listening ear that cares & shares.
I sincerely hope that @She_Skills program gets full Govt backing, as it's definitely a survival mechanism, & healing process for many women struggling with hardship brought about by broken relationships or loss.
Good luck with the application @She_Skills. Fingers crossed for you.
@She_Skills, fingers & toes crossed here, I'm be listening out the outcome.
Absolutely love this for a Mancave or "WomanCave". Some years ago friends made a bar out of the husband's old favourite Holden (wife had an accident .. was not popular for a short while. hahahahah)
When one has MONEY .. one can do almost anything!!!!
Hi .. great cartoon! Brought a great grin and chuckle. Love it.
This is an interesting development - mancave complexes - https://www.commercialrealestate.com.au/news/new-man-caves-are-luxurious-and-bigger-than-most-houses/
Would anyone consider getting one?
I think your mancave needs to be within staggering/crawling distance to your bed.
I've just created a new poll that you all might be interested in. The question is: What is the most essential item in a man cave?
Please add your vote and comments.
A fridge is the most essential item in a man cave according to Workshop members. Over half of respondents to our poll over the past week nominated the fridge. A television and bar tied for second position.
Feel free to continue the discussion by replying below. And please show off your own man cave!
I see there's a mancave expo tomorrow at the Melbourne Showgrounds - http://www.mancaveexperience.com.au/
Anyone been to a previous one? Any good?
This is my personal man cave !!
Wow. That looks like a brilliant home theatre @Prof. You are very lucky.
