How to remove pergola frame bracket?

Hi BW Community,

The backyard of our new home looks to have a pergola frame bracket left in the ground (an old tree trunk base was covering it). What would be the best way to remove this? (I have not dug down to see how deep it goes, but i think its likely soil under the pavers and not cement).

Ive not yet dug around the bracket to find out if connected to concrete, but I’ll report back after this weekend!

Just wondering how you ended up going with the old pergola bracket. Did it turn out to be concreted in like we suspected, or were you lucky enough to find it was just bolted down?

Curious to hear which approach you ended up taking in the end, especially with the clean removal vs cutting it off flush debate.

And if it’s still sitting there waiting for motivation to strike, happy to help further.

I would prefer the clean remove as well if you have the tools. Else a lazy way would be to cover with another better looking tree stump 😎
