How to replace sink tap assembly?

Dear Experts

Our kitchen sink's tap assembly is leaking as shown in the attached video in the link below

Looking to replace it with a premium quality (i.e not cheap) preferably with its spout

Any recommendation which one should I get ?

Re: How to replace sink top assembly?

Hi @zillah,

Thank you for your question about replacing your wall tap assembly.

There are a few great options which include both the spout and the taps, such as -

You can also piece together a wall spout with a wall top assembly to achieve the same outcome.

You might like to consider using our Tapware & Shower Head Installation Service as part of the replacement process.

Let me know what you think.

Re: How to replace sink top assembly?

Hi @zillah,

You should still be able to find a replacement. The spout being in two parts is just so there can be a mechanism to rotate the spout. The pipe through the wall should still be the same.

The grub screw at the connection between the two parts would need to be removed so you can take the top off. You would then rotate the lower part anticlockwise to remove it from the pipe in the wall.

Did you get the tap handles off? It looks like you've already replaced them?

It looks like you should just be able to pull them off.

Let me know what you think.

Morning @zillah

"To undo the nut that hold the plastic handle for the spindle I couldn't find a tube spanner as plastic hole is tight ,,,,,what tool do I need to use ?"

With a screwdriver, gently pry out the the 'blue ring' - it's just held by friction - which opens the area for a socket (from memory around 14mm?)

Re: How to replace sink top assembly?

Thx Jacob for your help

Yes I did get the tap handles off by using a grinder to make the hole bigger as I didn't know the way that Noyade explained

Re: How to replace sink top assembly?

Hi All

I went today to Bunnings to get a longer spout to replace my current one which is 230mm ,,,,I couldn't find one

Reason I am looking for a longer one because current one splashing water near the sink's edge,,,,,,I guess if I find 250mm in length will be adequate

Re: How to replace sink top assembly?

250mm is about it for sink spouts @zillah. However, I have the same issue and went with the 250mm and one of these EnduraSeal Chrome Female Multi-Function Swivel Aerators. The swivel allows you to direct the stream more towards the front of the bowl. Also, it has a handy dual-spray function, which I find very useful when rinsing plates.
