Kids bedroom makeover with reading nook

Question

Wallpaper, storage cubes, MDF wainscoting and blue “Vintage Denim” paint helped create a stylish and organised children's bedroom. It was the winner of best paint project in our 2023 search for Australia's best D.I.Y. projects.

The project

A kids bedroom makeover to stand the test of time.

Steps

Step 1

Reading nook with Flexi Storage cube unit and photo shelves.

Step 2

Feature wall with wallpaper and MDF wainscoting. The paint was Vintage Denim by British Paints.

Step 3

Here's the custom-built desk using Flexi Storage cube units, inserts and Specrite timber.

My top piece of advice would be to use as much wall space as you can and leave plenty of floor space for play. This could mean wall storage like ours, or a functional bunk-bed setup, or even hanging storage from the ceiling. And have fun, it’s meant to be a fun space.
