I like changing things in my workshop/garage, a while back I modified my work bench to a mobile one, I was happy with the way it turned out. You can see how I did it in my previous entry on the Bunnings Workshop site. I have been thinking of making my solid mobile workbench into a modular one, split up in three sections, that can be rejoined into one bench. Here are the photo's from start to finish, hope you like it. Lot's of photos.
Before and after shots.
Deconstructing work bench
No going back now, cutting starts.
Di section completed, extra timber, extra wheels installed. ( approximated cost of modification, just under $400, for heavy duty wheels, timber and toggle clamps)
Bench top was cut up and installed, the original bench top was not enough to cover the three benches, the reason is that I decided to make the the first and third bench top longer to allow for clamps, luckily I had a piece of the original bench top off cut which fitted perfectly for the middle unit.
Toggle clamps fitted to join the work bench together
The madness!!!!!!!
Now you can see that I like modular everything.

Re: Solid workbench modified into modular workbench
Hello @tnsmith001
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us.
I totally agree, JoeAzza's timber creations are a masterclass in woodworking. Precision and creativity are what come to mind whenever I see Joe's work. If you are planning your own timber project, please don't forget to post an update. I'm sure our members will be keen to see what you'll be creating.
