Bar stools for outdoor kitchen

Needed some bar stools for our outdoor kitchen we are putting together.

So I brought 10 x 1.1mt pine shorts @ $4.64 each only used 6. Joined it all together using Kreg pocket hole jig and screws. Going to paint them black I think 🤔

One down 3 more to go!!

Re: bar stools for outdoor kitcheb

Hi @hazesnow,

Such a cool project for your outdoor entertaining area. Painting the stools black will look really sleek and match your gazebo. Do you think you'll keep the bar a natural timber colour?

Yes @KatieC

I am thinking of just varnishing the bench top in summer with a Monocel exterior varnish

Morning Hazesnow.

Great looking stools! 👍

Any chance of seeing the underside - to see your Kreg handy-work?

I'm new to the process and would appreciate your placement.

So, no biscuits, dowels or visible external screw heads?

Hi @Noyade

Greatest invention since sliced bread? Close, but the Kreg system has a material limit of 13mm, so if you're using thin pieces of timber, you'll still need to use traditional joining methods. I'm a recent convert myself and I have to say that it is very convenient to use and makes all your woodwork look so professional looking.

Re: Bar stools for outdoor kitchen

Hi @hazesnow

Those bar stools look so good, the Kreg joins just give it that professional finish. No screw heads are visible, giving you the impression that all the joins were biscuit joined. Would it be possible for you to tell us the dimensions of the bar stool? Did you use the Kreg screws or did you use ordinary timber screws for the project? Any other information you can share about the build would be highly appreciated.

Please keep us updated with your project, we look forward to seeing the bar stools finished and ready for use.

Re: bar stools for outdoor kitcheb

Thanks @EricL

they stand 27 inches tall and are made with 70 x 35mm pine shorts.
I used pocket hole screws (kreg brand) love them ❤️❤️
so overall dimensions are

27” x 13 1/2” x 14 1/2”

Re: bar stools for outdoor kitcheb

@Noyade @I will take pictures when I get home, I too love my Kreg Pocket hole jig!

I find it so easy to use and does make for cleaner looking projects that’s for sure

Re: bar stools for outdoor kitcheb

Hi Eric.

"Greatest invention since sliced bread?"

You can now buy bread sliced!? 😮

😁

To be honest, when I first used the Kreg system, I was quite shocked at how much wood material was removed - the hole produced looked like the entrance to an underground bunker. Certainly not what you wanna see 'top-side' - but I guess wood filler would help?
