Flexi Storage - single bracket system:
I might be doing something wrongly, but it seems to me that the shelf cannot sit flush on the single S-Track brackets? Either the board is too wide or the S-Track bracket is not wide enough.
What can I do?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Paul_new. It's fantastic to have you join us and many thanks for your question.
You have the correct size bracket to suit that shelf. If you put slight downward pressure on the end of the bracket, it will lower a couple of millimetres, allowing you to hook it onto the shelf.
You can also try putting the shelf in at the front and lowering down at the back instead.
I've spoken to the team at Flexi-Storage and we both believe it's just a matter of a new unit being slightly stiff to begin with. The technical team at Flexi-Storage are happy to guide you through the installation process if you would like to give them a call.
Please let me know if you are successful or have further questions.
Mitchell
I have a similar bracket in the kitchen that had oversized shelves with a groove to take the hook, was fine for 40+ years before the arrival of not my wife who now uses it for practical things and not ornaments so the shelf was not up to rough handling, so a couple of pieces of Tassie Oak with a hole drilled to take the hook has restored some calm.
@ fit!
Hi @Wendy-Rose,
I'm so sorry to hear that you've experienced an issue installing your shelves. I would suggest you contact the technical team at Flexi-Storage for further guidance, as the steps provided above were directly from them. It's certainly concerning that the entire project has come away from the wall, and I hope it hasn't caused you any injury. The information above was provided as if the correct fixings were used in either the plaster or timberwork, then wall strips are unable to be pulled off the wall from depressing the brackets. If you could let me know what connection method you've used, I'd be happy to work out why they have failed. It's important to ensure the correct fixtures are used, as if slightly depressing a bracket has caused them to fail, then the shelves definitely should not be loaded up to their specified capacity.
The bracket holders stayed put as I had attached them firmly. Not much can go wrong there. It was when I tried to apply “a little downward pressure “ on the bracket itself that all the other brackets gave way dropping four shelves down on top of me. Yes, I appreciate this is funny and potentially comedic, but only once I have a working fixture. I have gone back to Bunnings and purchased different and more permanent fixtures, which is great for Bunnings but a seemingly unnecessary expense for me. All I wanted was a simple pantry cupboard. I’m feeling a bit upset so I’ll leave it here and try to finish before bedtime.
It's certainly not a comedic situation at all, @Wendy-Rose. Were you able to return the Flexistorage shelving and brackets? I'd be happy to assist in that process, as you certainly shouldn't be out of pocket for a product that couldn't be installed correctly.
Please let me know if you need any assistance with your new shelving.
@ed.
Hi @Ados,
I apologise for the issues you've experienced. I've raised this issue again with Flexi-storage as it is concerning. They will have the shelving assessed by their safety compliance team and check stock to find out why these shelves are not locating in the brackets correctly.
In the interim, I'd be more than happy to facilitate your return of the products if you're interested in doing so.
We have the same issue
3 x 1m strip's installed into wall
The shelves do not fit
They hang over the edge
Tried slight pressure, make shelves sit in place, whole thing collapses
What is the solution?
Refund doesn't seem acceptable, unless you want to come repair the wall and plasterboard for us?
Can I return the 3 x 1200 by 3000mm white shelves
And you supply me 3 x 1200 by 2850mm shelves so they will sit against the wall and within the bracket? This seems only feasible solution
Hello @CT13
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us.
I apologise for the issues you've experienced. Please allow me to make an inquiry with my teammate and Flexi Storage to find out if any progress has been made in regards to the shelves. We'll need to find out if the proper sized shelves are available at the store. If they are, we'll be more than happy to exchange the shelves.
Thank you for your patience.
Eric
Hi @CT13,
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your shelf installation.
Flexistorage has previously recommended inserting the front of the shelf first and then lowering the back in. They've found that putting the back in first and then lowering the front causes the tongue on the front end of the bracket arm to come into contact with the front edge of the shelf.
There are a couple of options if that doesn't work. The first would be that you contact the technical team at Flexi-Storage, who are happy to guide you through the installation process. Alternatively, I recommend discussing the issues with the store manager at the location where you purchased the shelving. I'm sure they will do their best to help resolve the situation.
id just like to return the 3 x 1200 x 300 shelves and swap them for 1200 x 290 shelves which assume you will need to custom make
As you can see they don't fit and i will only return it all if you want to send someone to repair the wall
Edwardstown store in SA
If you've given the recommended installation instructions a go and are still not successful, I suggest giving the store manager at Edwardstown a call to discuss the issue with the shelves. I'm sure they will do their best to find a resolution.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Can you provide the contact email/details of who I need to contact at edwardstown to swap over the shelves for some that fit
Not familiar with the product - are the shelves sheet metal or wood?
If they're melamine coated wood - clamp them into position?
The fit seems very close...
One mm?
With a panel saw cut a taper in a small block of wood and fit into position under the shelf at this end.
Another block above.
Then squeeze with a clamp.
That steel 'lip' will bite into the melomine and make a secure grip - better than being loose on the shelf.
Just an overcast Saturday thought.
Cheers.
@CT13 - Did you try @MitchellMc 's suggestion above?
"Flexistorage has previously recommended inserting the front of the shelf first and then lowering the back in."
yes I have tried their recommendation
As you can see it does not help
You push or hit that down with a rubber mallet it damages the shelf and flies off the wall
As per other people's concerns and pictures
It seems poor quality product and reasonable solution is to just provide shelves slightly less depth that will fit, this is what I have been asking for assistance with
I have sent you an email from our shared email address. My colleague @MitchellMc who has been working with Flexi Storage's producers to find a solution to your issue has access to this email address and will be back online tomorrow.
Unfortunately, I don't have all the details of what he has discussed with them and would be remiss to give you the wrong advice at this time.
Please bear with us as he will be back online tomorrow morning.

Many thanks for your patience.Mitchell
Thanks to everyone who shared their feedback on the Flexi-Storage shelving system. The Flexi-Storage team has now completed extensive product testing and identified that, in some instances, the tolerances between the shelves and brackets were too tight—making installation difficult or, in some cases, not possible.
They’ve since taken steps to ensure the tolerances on both the shelves and brackets allow for smooth, easy assembly. They’ve also added helpful installation tips on the Bunnings product page to make setup as straightforward as possible.
If anyone continues to have issues, the Flexi-Storage team encourages you to contact them through their Contact Us page so they can resolve the issue.
Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.
