1. Mudroom using upcycled cabinet by @DonnaDrummond1
After rescuing a cupboard that had spent about 50 years in a shed, Donna stripped and sanded the old paint, refreshed the timber seat and added a combination of original and new hooks. New legs complete this character-filled mini-mudroom, which combines practical storage with a welcoming place to sit.
2. D.I.Y. drinks cabinet using cube and hairpin legs by @diycollection
Blending style and functionality, resourceful member Emily repurposed a basic cube and added a Pine moulding trim to create this stylish drinks cabinet. A set of hairpin legs add character.
3. Dog crate buffet cabinet with sliding door by @LePallet
A clever build doubling as an attractive buffet cabinet and a safe sleeping space for pets. Ryle used recycled Pine, reinforced steel bars and a hardwood benchtop, then completed the piece with a miniature sliding barn door.
4. Glass-fronted overhead laundry cupboards by @JoeAzza
A hit among the Workshop community, these laundry cabinets provide ample storage. Experienced contributor Joe also used Tasmanian Oaks and Broadline glass for a more elegant look.
5. Upcycled cabinet into bathroom vanity by @Renowayoflife
Claire transformed a large second-hand cabinet into a generous double vanity by stripping, sanding and bleaching the timber before adding a quartz top and two surface-mounted basins. Custom handles made using dowel and copper plumbing fittings complete this distinctive family bathroom centrepiece.
6. Workbench cabinets for organising tools by @fhk56
Needing a home to store fasteners, fixings and other small tool parts, Frank expertly designed these custom timber storage units after obtaining inspiration from the Workshop community.
7. Built-in cabinetry and shelving makeover by @Ebd267
Bold colour transformed dated timber shelving and mirrored panels into a striking living-room feature. The entire unit was painted in Taubmans Dark Green Velvet and a low cabinet was customised with black handles and no feet to create streamlined, concealed storage.
8. Upcycled antique display cabinet by @Stuardo
Stuart’s family heirloom makeover is a terrific example of how to modernise a dated cabinet. LED lights and a fresh coat of paint make for a more contemporary look, while new fittings help keep it functional.
9. Custom office desk using Kaboodle cabinetry by @chaau
Faced with an awkward angled corner, Workshop member chaau combined two Kaboodle base cabinets, a small shelving unit and Tasmanian Oak panels to create a tailored home-office desk. A curved desktop, cable grommet and low kickers maximise function while keeping the work surface at a comfortable height.
10. Upcycled entertainment unit by @KMP
In a popular upcycle project, creative Workshop member KMP added a Tasmanian Oak top and removed the cabinet’s centre drawers to transform it into a modern entertainment unit.
11. D.I.Y. bench seat using Kaboodle cabinets by @RenovisionAU
Kaboodle drawer cabinets were cleverly repurposed as a built-in-style bench seat beside the fireplace, adding both storage and a comfortable place to relax. Painted doors, MDF panels, skirting trim, brushed-brass handles and a made-to-measure cushion give the project a polished custom look.
12. Power tool cabinets and workspace on wheels by @Arcc
This budget-friendly mobile storage cabinet was built using repurposed wood from crates and pallets.
13. Upcycled standalone pantry cabinet by @Nightwatchman
A 1930s pantry cabinet that once belonged to a grandparent was brought back from disrepair in this painstaking restoration. Damaged plywood, perforated metal and the drawer were replaced, while Tasmanian Oak and several coats of hard wax oil helped preserve the cabinet’s vintage character.
14. Storage cabinet using scrap timber by @kel
Featuring multi-sized drawers and cupboard spaces, this entertainment cabinet is not only a great storage solution, but also a striking piece of furniture. Judy used scrap pieces of timber and created an interesting effect by combining blocks of different colours, grains and knots.
15. Recycled timber barbecue cabinet by @She_Skills
Meg’s industrial-style barbecue cabinet is handy for those wanting a more organised and clutter-free area while they cook. She added a stainless-steel top from a food preparation bench to make the cabinet more functional.
16. D.I.Y. linen cupboard using Melamine by @twocutekelpies
Unable to find a ready-made cupboard that suited the space, Shelley designed and built a bespoke laundry unit with deep drawers and adjustable shelves. Melamine sheets, iron-on edging, soft-close runners and adjustable feet created a substantial storage solution tailored precisely to the room.
