Recommended Green Stain to Cancel out Red Timber Tones.

Hey!

I'm looking for an Olive Green stain to use as a toner to effectively "cancel out" the redy-orange in Douglas Fir, so I can then apply say a Walnut Stain and the undertone will be correct.

So far I have not been able to find any suitable products.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Re: Recommended Green Stain to Cancel out Red Timber Tones.

Our range of stains is generally geared towards finishing in popular wood tones @JamesM, so it’s unlikely you’ll find something like an olive green, as that’s not a colour most people usually use for timber. I understand your idea of trying to cancel out the red-orange tones in Douglas Fir, but I’m not aware of any green stains in our range. The widest variety of colours we have is through Feast Watson’s Prooftint system, but even that doesn’t extend to unusual colours like green.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
