What was the last thing you bought at Bunnings?

As I'm nearing the end of our backyard games room project, I had an eclectic assortment of items in my basket during my long weekend trip to Bunnings. There was some magnets for a gate, some wood filler, some paint and a new BBQ spatula.

Looking around at the store, it seemed many people were gearing up for a big weekend of D.I.Y. and gardening projects. There was certainly a wide variety of items in shopping baskets and trolleys.

LED light bulb, smallest I could find in E14 for a kids lamp that my partner wants to use as a night light for when our number 2 arrives in a week or so.

Didn't need anything else, spent the long weekend cleaning up the garage to turn it back into a garage rather than a dumping room/workshop.

Thrilling I know, right!

I bought some cans of spray paint for a craft project at my weekly craft group, some more paint for a project that i did at a Bunnings night last week and it was paid for with the 2 ten dollar gift cards that i won at the ladies night. Thank you Bunnings

Last thing I bought at Bunnings was a red metal stool for $25.

Later then I realised I need another one, then I came back to Bunnings, but they no longer sell it 🙁
It was the cheapest metal stool I could find around my area.

To have a play around with transferring prints onto wood.

It wasn't the last thing that I bought, but I wanted to mention it anyway, as I'm super chuffed with it.

I'd previously bought a boxed set, built around a corded Dremel, which included a flex shaft, & plenty of attachments & fittings.

One of the uses I put it to much later, was to trim the nails of our dogs. After nipping black nails too short, & blood going everywhere, let alone the distress of a little mate in pain, I hauled it out to grind down their nails. I knew of the purpose built nail grinders from pet suppliers, but didn't see the need to buy one if I could rig the Dremel to do the job. With a bit of electrical conduit, & the cap from a pump atomiser, I modded it to do the job & it was very effective.

The only problem was that the sanding tube was quite aggressive, left a rough finish & chattered when grinding.

I could've changed over the sanding tube for a finer one, but if I needed to swap them frequently, it was going to be a hassle (my mod was semi-permanent).

That's where the recent acquisition of my new cordless Dremel shone through. It's quieter, more nimble, & far easier to manoeuvre. When fitted with a 6mm grinding tube, it didn't need the guard that stops their hair from being wrenched/entangled.

Could I have done it with the corded one, well yeah, but the Dremel Micro is a breeze to use, & the boys love it.

I bought a small sheet of pegboard. I am making a Down Draft Sanding table that will sit on my work table that I will connect to my Dust Extractor. I will sand work pieces on top of the pegboard and dust will be drawn through the pegboard into the dust extractor. I will post some pictures when it is done, but here is a quick preview.

I saw somewhere the other day a quick release chuck for the Dremel, similar set up to that of an impact driver. I was going to order one but then it said it only fits a dremel and not a clone (which is what I have)

Hhhhmmm I grabbed some stain, sandpaper, wood glue and biscuit joins - nothing exciting on my last trip. I go a few times a week so it all kind of rolls into one haha.

Wayne mate, thanks for the tip, but when I checked on the Dremel site, they had what looked perfect:

but it only comes with the standard 1/2" rubber sleeve, not 1/4". : (

Then again, I could try trimming it down to size, or see if I can take the 1/4" rubber sleeve from the normal screw adjustment type, & fit that.

I meant a quick release chuck so that you can change mandrels quickly without a spanner, but it isn't like the Impact Drivers like I thought it is a Keyless chuck like a drill.

All good Wayne, but our boys have long hair, so anything knurled would tend to entangle their hair & yank at it.

I've since had a fiddle, & discovered that turning the mandrel while keeping the screwdriver stationary, works a treat.

What I've previously done, & I suspect a lot of other users have too, is lock the shaft, & stress out using the supplied stamped out (handleless flat) screwdriver.

Great Wayne. I have a Dremel and have been unhappy with the spanner type chuck and will be looking for that keyless chuck of yours. You are always full of great ideas keep the ball rolling and I look forward to reading that post of yours about using the pegboard in your dust extractor system.
I brought some polyester bog from Bunnings as I am making a steampunk pistol for my wife when she goes to Super Nova so she can shoot nerf missiles at everyone. Hey she likes being a 58 year old fun chick. I am working on the firing mechanism so when it fires a blue light will shine through the barrel. ,at the same time.

The last thing I bought at Bunnings was the latest Ryobi brushless hammer drill/driver. Seriously impressed! So much so, that I've replaced all the drills I use for my DIY demos with brushless Ryobi ones.
Having said that, I work there and I'm a tool junkie. I can't help buying new things on a regular basis, much to my dear wife's annoyance. She doesn't say too much, though, as I keep her well supplied with plants for her garden.

The last thing I bought from Bunnings .. 15 bags of Potting Mixture .. starting to fill two huge timber/galv iron sheeting raised garden beds.(Raised on bricks)
Making a private area on a concrete driveway (keeping neighbours from prying). One bed down. Off to Bunnings again Saturday for another .. wait for it 20.
It is the expensive way .. but as a "senior" person I can fill at my leisure and not have a huge pile of soil on the driveway. I could not shovel .. so this is the BEST way I can do it BY MYSELF!

Will plant trees as a hedge .. which will grow above fenceline and give privacy .. might take a couple of years .. but will look nice

You can also transfer photocopied images onto wood using acetone. It is really easy. You just tape the paper down and saturate the paper with acetone, usually with a rag or paintbrush. The image will be mirrored, so you need to print it in reverse if it has text.

I got it to clean the shower mostly, getting it clean but it is taking a while.

A larger one would reduce the cool down cycles needed to refill the tank.
