How to seal the cracks on brick work?

Hi there,

I found a few cracks on the blockwork. Is it okay to use Hybond Two Pot Epoxy Mortar to seal the cracks? Can I still prime and paint the cracks after that?

Re: Seal the cracks on the block work

Hi @mike1360,

Your question might be best posed to the manufacturer of that product. As it's not a product we stock, I am unfamiliar with its application techniques and whether it can be coated over. However, two-part epoxies, in general, are not the best products for use for cracks caused by movement as they are rigid. If there is any further movement they will crack again. You'd be much better off using a flexible sealant designed for dealing with movement like Sikaflex 11FC. Not only will it seal the gaps and cope well with any further movement, but it's also paintable.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
