Thanks Mitchell, should I pour sand down the gaps to fill whatever cavity might be before push the filler rod down?

The concrete slabs outside the house have tipped down overtime, which created a 2cm gap with the house as in the photo. Should I do something about it ...

You could do so, but there is no need, as the filler rod will squeeze into the gap and provide a backing for your sealant. Mitchell
