Bunnings Workshop community members have shown how acoustic panels can be used in creative ways throughout the home, from striking feature walls in living rooms to bedrooms, hallways, mud rooms, workshops and even covered alfresco areas.

1. Acoustic panels and TV lighting by @WoodenGregsWood
A media wall is a great way to utilise acoustic panels. Bunnings Workshop member Greg installed acoustic panels behind a wall-mounted television, then added bias lighting around the screen.
2. Living room makeover using acoustic panels by @HD1
Black acoustic panels can create a dramatic backdrop for a built-in entertainment unit. In this living room makeover, freshly painted Dulux Vivid White walls were paired with black acoustic panels and a white rug for a clean monochrome scheme with plenty of texture.
3. Media room acoustic panels and bench by @PhillipD
Acoustic panels can help make a media room feel warmer as well as assisting with sound. Phillip transformed a plain wall, then built a matching bench underneath to add storage and create a built-in look.
Hallway and entryway
4. Entryway and living area refresh by @Sprice1
Acoustic panels can help bring character to a wide variety of spaces, including transitional areas. Member @Sprice1 refreshed an entryway and living area by replacing a beige scheme with calming sage-green paint , Specrite walnut panels and floating timber shelves.

Oak acoustic panels, Dulux Domino matt-finish paint and rechargeable motion lights helped create a dramatic gallery-style hallway showcasing Indigenous artwork. The acoustic panels were spaced to fit the artwork, while the motion lights were fitted magnetically to highlight the pieces at night.

Acoustic panels can be used to lift a small alcove or transition space. A home theatre-room foyer area was transformed by adding walnut acoustic panels to the alcove, then building a hall table and matching pot stand to complete the space.
Ceiling
7. Black oak acoustic panel ceiling with track lighting by @courtneyandconstruct
Acoustic panels are not limited to walls – they can make a huge impact overhead. An open-plan living area with soaring raked ceilings was transformed by lining the ceiling with Specrite black Oak acoustic panels. The project helped reduce echo while turning the ceiling into a dramatic feature, with the black felt backing helping the track lighting blend into the ceiling and the slats framing the skylights.
Bedroom
8. Master bedroom with acoustic panels and seagrass wallpaper by @HD1
Oak acoustic panels combined with seagrass wallpaper to create a layered feature wall in a master bedroom. The natural textures work with a palette of black, grey and orange accents for a calm, organic feel.
9. Guest room makeover using acoustic panels by @HD1
A guest bedroom is a great place to experiment with a feature wall. In this makeover, the warm Oak acoustic panels were used with Dulux Tea House matt-finish paint to create a welcoming backdrop for artwork and a pleasing contrast.

Acoustic panels can help give a home office a more professional workspace. Mark updated his home office with rich black feature walls, SpecRite walnut timber acoustic panels, shelving and a new standing desk that has helped improve productivity.

Acoustic panels can also add texture to practical spaces such as garages, sheds and workshops. Plywood cabinets, drawers, shelving, benchtop, chalkboard and Specrite acoustic panels were used to create a much more functional workspace with a classy custom finish.
Laundry and mud room

Acoustic panels can be used as a decorative feature in utility rooms when kept away from direct water exposure. Cody’s low-cost laundry makeover utilised new cabinetry, a timber benchtop, tiled splashback and Specrite Oak acoustic panels to cover a framed hot-water area with a hidden access door.

Even a small nook can be transformed with a single textured feature. A compact mud room area was created using a black acoustic panel set between Dulux Vivid White walls. A hanging shelf and ottoman added valuable and practical storage.
Outdoor

Acoustic panels can create a warm and textured backdrop in a sheltered outdoor entertaining area. Megan transformed an empty alfresco space into a lavish outdoor kitchen using Kaboodle cabinetry, tiled benchtop, barbecue, fridge and walnut acoustic panels.
16. Alfresco feature ceiling panelling by @Nailbag
Experienced renovator Wayne used Prempanel Oak acoustic panels to create a striking feature ceiling in an alfresco area, helping hide the roof frame and add a sleek timber finish overhead.

This custom outdoor kitchen features a built-in Matador six-burner barbecue, timber benchtops, Merbau screening, strip lighting and natural Oak acoustic panels.
