Rust paint bathroom scale

Hi everyone.

The paint on my bathroom scale is peeling off & underneath it there is all rust. See pic in attach. It'd like to try to salvage it.

I've found many youtube videos about similar issues but all related to walls.

Can you please point me to the products & process I'd follow to fix the issue for good & make the scale look good again?

Hi @ventodimare,

It appears the rust has crept under the paint layer and is pushing the paint off as it eats away at the steel.

To fix the issue for good:

Take a steel scraper and remove any loose paint from the surface. A wire brush would also be helpful to remove any loose and flaking rust from the surface.

Sand the surface smooth with 120grit sandpaper.

Coat the surface with rust converter transforming it into a stable material ready for paint.

Apply a top coating similar to White Knight Rust Guard 310g Gloss White Epoxy Enamel Spray Paint.
