Gardenia Help

Hi Team,

We have planted some Gardenia's as a hedge in our place.

Over the last month or so, the new shoot on the plants does not seem to be very healthy.

I have attached some pics for reference.

Would be good to know what is required to get the plants back a healthy growing mode.

Appreciate any suggestions and guidance.

Hi @SarangR,

Your new shoots look reasonably healthy to me. They will typically be that lighter green/yellow colour until they harden off. Was there something in particular that you were concerned about?

Some key points about looking after Gardenias:

They like to be watered well in Spring and Summer, give them a good soak a few times a week.

The hot afternoon sun can burn them, especially on those plus 40 degree celsius days.

They don't appreciate exposed roots, mulch around them with lucerne or sugarcane.

Feed you plants in spring and summer with Scotts Osmocote Roses, Gardenias, Azaleas & Camellias Controlled Release Fertiliser.
