My hardenbergia has yellow/brown leaves. Do you think it’s a fungus or something else? I’ve been using seasol on it.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Jackie3. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about hardenbergia care.
If the yellowing and browning are spread throughout the plant rather than just the lower leaves, it’s more likely an issue with watering, drainage or nutrients rather than fungus. Hardenbergia prefer well-drained soil, and if the soil stays too wet, the roots can start to suffocate, leading to widespread yellowing.
Seasol is great for general plant health but it doesn’t provide much nutrition. Try feeding with a native fertiliser to help the plant recover. Also, check that the soil isn’t compacted or staying soggy, and make sure the plant is getting enough light since they do best in a sunny to partly shaded spot.
If you notice any black spots, mould or soft stems, it could indicate root rot or fungal disease, but it sounds more like environmental stress.
This is a fairly common question on the community, so you might like to read through some of the previous dicussions on the subject.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
