Re: Can you paint over bright red, high gloss kitchen cabinetry?

Hello @CLW80

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's marvellous to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about painting your kitchen doors.

If you have ordinary gloss painted doors the standard rules of painting will apply. Generally speaking, it will need to be sanded down, cleaned up a primer applied and then painted with a topcoat. However, if it is a laminated surface the same procedures will apply but it will need to use a different type of paint.

The Dulux Renovation Range and the White Knight Renew are specially designed paint to go on laminate surfaces. Your goal is to find out what is on the surface of your door.

A painted door will have a flat surface and edge of the inside of the door will have a very fine finish on its surface. A laminated door will have a visible line on the inside of the door where the laminate has been folded over on the edge. It will also have visible imperfections on its surface.
