Hi Everyone
Need help with what tools and products I will need to get the best results for restoration of this teak timber table from the dark weathered look to the light blonde wood colour please
im a beginner…..
Thank you very much !
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @John68. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about restoring a table.
Due to the amount of weathering, I'd recommend you sand the table with 120-180 grit sandpaper to remove a thin layer of aged timber. You'll need to use a powered sander, and something like the Ryobi random orbital should do the job well. Once a layer has been removed, you can assess the colour. Hopefully, this new, fresh layer of timber will be at your desired lightness. If it's still slightly discoloured, you can try a wash with Feast Watson Woodclean. Use this product and not others, as it has an additional chemical that makes it far more effective at restoring greyed timber.
Once you've sanded, washed the table down, and let it dry, you might like to post some images so we can see what the colouring is like. Please note that there's no guarantee that you will be able to get it as light a colour as your inspiration image.
Remember your PPE, including a face mask, safety glasses, a long-sleeved shirt, trousers and enclosed shoes.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
