How to build a low-level deck?

I have an alfresco area which I'd like to deck.  The joists (Green lines) will most probably fix straight into the concrete and ideally, I'd like to go 1500mm beyond the concrete (Red line).  I have a storm water pipe (White line) about 800mm out from the concrete.  800mm out from the concrete, the ground is at its lowest point, which is about 200mm lower than the alfresco.  With regards to the footings and bearers, what are my options?

Re: Deck options

Hey @IronStan001 ,

Amazing work on the deck, it looks fantastic!

I'm in the early stages of planning a similar deck for our alfresco and would like a decking board to cover the sliding door brick sill like you have pictured here.

Could you please share some insight on how you fixed the boards down to the brick and pictures of the finished sill area?

Re: Deck options

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @asklucien. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about this terrific project.

Hopefully @IronStan001 can fill you in on the exact details, but support-wise, you might like to check out page four, which shows renderings of levelling the joist to the sill and then page nine, where images show the level joists. Obviously, that only gives you roughly half the width of the last decking board attached to the joists and the other resting on the door sill. This would likely be a fairly solid connection, but might leave some flex. You could use Liquid Nails to adhere the board to the sill or, better still, drill into the sill and install masonry plugs, then secure the board to the sill with screws.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Deck options

Thank you @MitchellMc that's a great help. I think I will go with the masonry plugs and screw it down to the sill.

I will start a new project thread once I've sketched out my deck design, I'm sure I will have plenty more questions.
