How to install eufy security camera?

IMG_9672.jpeg

Hi team,

I am trying to install eufycam. Not sure if it is ok to drill fascia or soffit and which one is better to install. Also to double check, yellow dot should be fascia and purple is soffit?

highly appreciated in advance

thanks

Re: How to install eufy security camera?

Hello @gmlrud1895

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about installing a security camera.

I've recently installed a security camera in my own home, and I suggest installing it on the soffit as it has the advantage of being under cover. This will protect it from harsh rain and UV rays, plus it is easier to drill into the soffit to install your camera. Whereas installing it on the fascia exposes it to the weather and harsh UV rays.

Your camera should come with a basic wall mounting kit, but if you are after something more robust, I suggest looking at the Ramset 6 x 38mm Universal Anchor or the Ramset M5 x 9mm Plasterboard Hollow Wall Anchor. My best advice is to double check your mounting holes to make sure that the fittings will have enough room to fit next to each other.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi Eric,

thanks for your help

mines are solar charging, would you still go with soffit over fascia?

thanks

Re: How to install eufy security camera?

Hello @gmlrud1895

If the solar panel can be installed separately from the camera, then I would still choose the soffit. The solar panel has been designed to withstand the weather and exposure to UV rays. But if they are an integrated unit and the solar panel can't be detached then you will have no choice but attach it to the fascia so that the solar panel will be exposed to the sun.

It looks like you have a metal fascia, I suggest using self-tapping galvanized steel screws to mount the camera on the fascia.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
