My gutters are overflowing into the eaves and so I have pulled down the gutters as they are old and rusted. These look like Fielders Longline gutters. What is the best gutters to replace these with? Does Fielders do a slotted gutter or should I put spacers behind the gutters to prevent water coming into the eaves and house? Also can you buy blue plastic gutters?
I will also need to install leaf guards as there is a tree over this section of gutter.
Also, may as well ask the question here, would I need to sand and prime the Facsia for painting or will sanding alone work?
Hello @JR1210
Thanks for sharing your question about your gutter. This would be the best opportunity to sand and paint your fascia while your gutter are off. Please make sure to give the paint enough time to cure before you reinstall your gutters. In regards to the type of gutters, I suggest looking at Lysaght 3.6m 125mm Zinc Gutter Square. This particular gutter has slots as you mentioned and allows excess water to overflow over the slots instead of overflowing into your eave.
There is also the option of installing overflows along the length of the gutter, but the ideal solution would be to install more droppers allowing the water to flow out at a much faster rate preventing it from pooling in the gutter. I don't recommend installing spacers behind the gutter as it could trap mould and debris between the fascia. Installing leaf guards is a very good idea.
