Re: Lattice fell down looking for alternative

Hello @zillah

I propose removing all of the old-weaved lattice in front of the fibro panel. I suggest cleaning the surface of the fibro as best as you can and recommend looking at the Jack Matrix 1800 x 900 x 6mm Smooth Cream Reeded Square Lattice or the Jack Matrix 1800 x 1200mm Smooth Cream Plastic Woven Lattice. To make it noticeable, I suggest painting your fibro board a light brown which will contrast with the creamy colour of the lattice. The Jack Matrix lattice sets are made from plastic and can resist UV exposure. They will not rot and can be drilled into for installation.

Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their recommendations.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: Lattice fell down looking for alternative

Hi @zillah

Looks like it was only ever liquid nailed on. I would go with one of the PVC options that @EricL recommend. Probably this one might be best with the smaller holes. Being PVC would be easy to cut to size and you could fasten with 20mm galvanised button head screws. But you will need to pilot hole both the PVC panel and the cement sheet so the screws bite into the timber behind. Assuming there is timber.

But first you need to clean the old glue off and maybe seal the cement sheet with primer.

Re: Lattice fell down looking for alternative

Good Evening @zillah

The plastic styled lattice that @EricL has mentioned is a long lasting option. There is also a large range of different shapes (could be harder to match in with each other but its something different enough to consider Screen Panels )

You could use a few and then paint the rest of the fibro white or a neautral colour (after cleaning the fibro)

Or you could go the route of clean the fibro, paint the fibro all white and then have a black timber trim patterned over the fibro to make it look like a Tudor style.

Clean and prep the area will give you a bunch of ideas of what youy might want the whole area to look like after you finish

Re: Lattice fell down looking for alternative

Thank you very much for your help I have few questions

1-Cleaning fibro ? Is by blowing dirt and then wash it or using chemical like Turpentine to clean it ? Yes I will use prime as suggested and then pain it :

2->> Being PVC would be easy to cut to size<<

To be a nice and clean cut should I use an angle grinder or something else ?

3-For primer I will use dulux primer any recommendation which one ?

Re: Lattice fell down looking for alternative

Hello @zillah

There is no need to use chemicals to clean the surface of the fibro. Just use a soft bristle broom to remove dust and dirt on its surface. You can also wipe the surface down with a clean cloth. The lattice being PVC can be cut with an ordinary hand saw, do not use a grinder as it will melt the plastic. To prime the surface of the fibro board, I suggest using Dulux 1Step Prep Primer, Sealer & Undercoat 4L. for the top coat I recommend looking at the Dulux Weathersheild.

Re: Lattice fell down looking for alternative

Hello Eric

If you have a look at the photos at the middle and bottom there are few chips in fibro what type of filler can be used to patch them ?

Re: Lattice fell down looking for alternative

Hello @zillah

Now that I 've had a second look at the fibro, I believe that you've had a fair bit of water damage on the bottom of that panel. I suggest thinking about replacing the entire sheet rather than patching it. it would be more cost effective to replace the sheets rather than buying a new sheet and cutting it up to patch.
